Chevy Key Fob Programming: A Step-by-Step Guide

With the Chevy remote start key fob you would like to program in hand, follow these simple steps:

  1. Unlock your door manually.

  2. Shut all doors, and then stick your key in the ignition. Don’t start the engine.

  3. Press the unlock button on your driver’s side door down and hold it. While doing so, turn the key to the “On” position. The interior lights and radio will turn on, but don’t ignite the engine yet.

  4. Turn your key “Off.” Then turn it “On.” Then “Off” once more. Do this quickly. Here’s the proper sequence: On – Off – On – Off.

  5. Then release the unlock button.

  6. After releasing the unlock button, you should hear the door locks engage and disengage, telling you that the programming sequence can begin.

  7. On your Chevy key fob, press and hold the “Unlock” and “Lock” buttons at the same time until your locks engage and disengage yet again. This indicated that you’ve successfully programmed your key fob.

  8. Finally, insert your newly programmed key into the ignition. Turn it to “On.” This finalizes the programming sequence.
